The Williams Family Says Goodbye to Formula 1 Stable After 43 Years

Claire Williams will experience her last race this weekend in Monza as team principal of Formula 1 racing stable Williams.   She then resigns from her position. Her resignation is due to the takeover of the British team by the American investment company Dorilton Capital. The departure of Claire Williams also marks the departure of the Williams family from Formula 1. Her father Frank Williams founded the racing stable of the same name in 1977. Williams Also Accepts Punishment for Formula 1 Team Racing Point

Williams racing team follows McLaren and refrains from further legal action against Racing Point.   The team accepts the penalty imposed on the Formula 1 team by the international motorsport federation FIA. Racing Point was punished with a deduction of 15 World Cup points and a fine of 400,000 euros for taking over a brake part exactly from Mercedes. Mercedes is also supplying the engine and gearbox for Racing Point cars, which has appealed the sentence. Ferrari and Renault find the penalty for Racing Point much too light. They claim that their competitor's cars are also similar to Mercedes' cars and plan to file another official complaint.

Golfer Rory McIlroy has won the Tour Championship in Atlanta.   With the final victory of the FedEx Cup, which forms the final part of the PGA Tour,  he also won the largest cash prize in the sport of 15 million dollars.
