Number of New Corona Deaths in New York Down Again

The number of people who have died from the coronavirus in the US state of New York in the past 24 hours is lower than the day before.

 

It concerns 289 people compared to 306 a day earlier. The number of deaths recorded is 24,069.

The number of hospital admissions seems to be levelling off, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo. It has been around 1000 for days, last day there were 954.

“We want to bring that number down, so we are going to request more information about the people in the hospital. We can adjust our policy accordingly.”

One of the measures to further reduce the number of infections is to keep schools and universities in the state closed for the rest of the school year.

New York is one of the hardest-hit states in the US.

In the United States, many people are against strict lockdown rules. Cuomo said at a press conference what the impact of the measures was. “A month ago, the number of infections, hospitalizations and deaths seemed to be increasing.

Our measures have changed the numbers. Without the lockdown, 100,000 more patients would have been hospitalized than happened.”
