Brazil to Accelerate the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Brazil is going to accelerate the tackling of greenhouse gas emissions in the country. By 2030, 50 percent should be reduced instead of the 43 percent mentioned earlier.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro says in a video message for the COP26 climate summit that his environment minister Pereira Leite has approved the new climate target.
Unlike many other government leaders and heads of state, Bolsonaro did not travel to Glasgow for the climate summit.
Other notable absences include Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
