Uber Stops Its Own Development of Self-Driving Cars

Taxi company Uber Technologies is discontinuing its own development of self-driving cars.

 

Instead, those research activities will be transferred to the Aurora Innovation company, which is also working on autonomous driving.

Uber is also investing $ 400 million in Aurora.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi becomes a board member of Aurora, which is now valued at $ 10 billion. Uber will acquire a 26 percent direct stake in the company.

When Aurora comes with self-driving cars, they will be used by Uber.
