Belgian Police Will Check More Strictly At the Border

In the new year, the Belgian police will monitor even more strict compliance with the rules to prevent the corona virus’s spread.

Travellers who come from abroad are subject to systematic checks, according to the federal police.

The road police, railway police and aviation police are already carrying out checks but will tighten them from Friday.

There will be random checks on border roads and stations where international trains stop. Additional inspections will also be made at airports.

Foreigners travelling to Belgium must be able to show a negative corona test since 25 December. Belgians are also faced with stricter measures when they come from abroad.

They must be quarantined from Thursday if they have been in a so-called red zone for more than two days. They must therefore be tested twice for corona: on day one and day seven after their return.
