The American regulator FDA calls the corona vaccine from Leiden pharmaceutical company Janssen “safe and effective”.
A report from the FDA says the drug is about 72 percent effective.
An analysis by the FDA of Janssen’s data shows that there are no health concerns associated with the use of the drug and that it qualifies for emergency approval in the United States.
On Friday, the FDA will issue an advisory report on the drug’s approval.
If approved, Janssen can immediately deliver 4 million doses to the US. The vaccine is probably less effective against the South African and Brazilian mutations of the virus.
