Human Rights Organizations: Facebook CEO Does Not Understand

Facebook Supervisory Board Finds Removal Policy Wrong

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg remains behind his decision to post a controversial message from President Donald Trump without comment on the platform, even after consulting human rights organizations.

Zuckerberg met for an hour with leaders from, among others, Color of Change, which represents the interests of the African American population in the United States.

The organizations find that Facebook’s attitude hurts black Americans.

The talks were about Trump’s message that “when the looting starts, the shooting begins,” responding to the riots in the United States after George Floyd died in Minneapolis.

That message also caused outrage among Facebook staff. Numerous employees resigned on Monday in protest from Facebook.

They demand, among other things, that new policies be introduced regarding the handling of messages such as Trump’s.
