Windows 10 Can Crash While Printing

An update for Windows 10 seems to cause the operating system to go wrong when using a network printer.

These are updates KB5000802 and KB5000808 that were released this week as part of Patch Tuesday in March. On Reddit, among others, users complain that they get a blue crash screen (BSOD) when they try to print to a network printer.

Specifically, it is an error in win32kfull.sys, with code APC_INDEX_MISMATCH. It would occur with devices from Ricoh, Kyocera and Dymo, among others.

For the time being, there is no solution yet, but those who encounter problems can temporarily remove the updates in question. Bleepingcomputer notes that KB5000802 was no longer offered for a short time, but in the meantime, the update is available again, and, according to Microsoft, it would not have been adjusted. So the problem is still there.

A further explanation, confirmation or solution from Microsoft for the crashes is not yet available. But some caution for those using network printers is advisable, either by waiting a while with the patches or by removing them again if you experience crashes.
