Ukraine: Russia Behind Fake Bombings to Sow Panic
Ukraine says it has been the victim of a number of false bomb threats in recent days designed to spread panic in society. The country blames Russia for the reports.
These came as concerns grew over a possible Russian invasion, Ukraine’s security services in Kyiv said in a statement.
The accusation comes on the same day that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his US counterpart Antony Blinken spoke in Geneva about rising tensions over Ukraine and NATO.
According to the ministers, it was an open discussion, and they both wanted it to continue soon. Lavrov said shortly after the meeting that he hopes tensions can ease after this meeting.
Last week, Ukraine already accused Russia of being behind a major cyber attack and of having evidence of it. The attack hit several computer systems used by Ukrainian organizations, including government agencies.
