A burglar has stolen more than £10 million worth of jewellery and handbags in a break-in in London, in what is said to be “one of the biggest burglaries ever”, according to British media.
The burglary dates back to the beginning of this month, but the police only made it known now by distributing a search notice. Shortly after 5 p.m. on the evening of December 7, a burglary was committed through a window on the second floor of a villa in the St. John’s Wood district.
The residents were away at the time.
In just 19 minutes, gold chains, rings, bracelets, and diamond earrings were stolen. The perpetrator’s identity is still unknown, so investigators are asking residents of the British capital who know more to come forward. The suspect is a white man about thirty years old who was wearing cargo pants, a dark sweater, and a grey cap.
The victims have offered a reward of more than 600,000 pounds for the golden tip that leads to the perpetrator’s unmasking. A second reward for information that leads to the discovery of the jewels amounts to 10 percent of their value.
