Sony announced during a press conference at CES in Las Vegas that the Afeela, the electric car built by Sony and Honda, will be launched this year.
The Afeela has long been a concept, but pre-orders are now possible, at least in the United States. Sony announced this at CES. At the technology fair, the company which worked with Honda on the electric car also priced the device.
The Afeela 1 Origin will cost 89,900 dollars in the US, and the Afeela 1 Signature will cost 102,900 dollars. Both prices include a three-year subscription to various car functions, including a driving assistant and a personal AI assistant.
Sony and Honda have been working on an electric car through a joint venture for five years. Much has changed in the world of EVs since then.
The current model looks more like a sedan and the battery should last up to 300 miles (about 480 km) before it needs to be recharged. The devices will initially be delivered in California, in the United States. Whether and when they will also come to Europe is currently unclear.
