KLM: No Further Inspection of Fleet After South Korea Crash

KLM will not be inspecting its Boeing 737-800s for the time being after the fatal plane crash with this type of aircraft in South Korea last weekend.

A spokesperson for the airline announced this. According to him, inspections are pointless if the cause is unknown.

When landing at Muan airport, a plane from the airline Jeju Air crashed into a wall. Only two of the 181 passengers survived the crash, one of the deadliest in South Korean history.

The cause is currently being investigated. “If anything emerges that leads to the authorities asking us to take action, we will do so,” said the KLM spokesperson.

South Korea’s acting president, Choi Sang-mok, announced on Monday an “urgent safety inspection of the entire aviation system” to prevent more accidents. This will involve checking all Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by South Korean airlines.
