Costa Rica Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage As the First Country in Central America
In Costa Rica, same-sex marriage is legal from today. The same-sex marriage ban was cancelled in the night from Monday to Tuesday.
Costa Rica thus becomes the first country in Central America to allow same-sex marriage.
“Costa Rica is celebrating today: marriage equality has become a reality in the country – the first in Central America!”
ILGA (International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association) wrote on Twitter.
“We look forward to working with you: Congratulations to all who have worked so hard to make this possible!”
Public television and social networks announced the legalization with a particular program about the historical fight against sexual discrimination.
That was an initiative of the organization Sí Acepto Costa Rica.
